Before cleaning the roller blinds – Check the material
The first thing you should do is check what material your blind is made of. This is important as it will determine if the blind should be cleaned or if it can be washed. If you are not sure what the material is, check with your local roller blind supplier.

If the fabric of your roller blinds can be washed, cleaning the roller blinds is quite simple. You can start by vacuuming them to remove dust and dirt from the surface. Once this is done, remove the roller shutter and place it on the floor. Use the brush attachment on the vacuum to vacuum the blind. Then you can lower the shade to a bathtub that has been half filled with warm water and mild detergent. Put the blind in the bathtub and let it soak for a while to loosen the embedded dirt. Then you can clean it with a sponge or soft cloth to remove the remaining dirt. Stains can be removed by rubbing with a toothbrush. Rinse the blind with clean water (empty the bath with soapy water and fill it again with clean water). Until no more soap comes out of the blind. Lay the roller shutter flat on a clothesline or outside on the clothesline and allow it to dry. Put the blind back on the roller and hang it again.

If your roller shutters cannot resist washing, you should clean them. This is where you only clean the parts that are visibly dirty. You can start by vacuuming the blinds as described above to remove most of the dust and dirt from the surface. Then mix a solution of laundry detergent and warm water to use as a cleaning agent.
