Nowadays, roller blinds have become a commodity, in a few words they are in fashion, which in my opinion is not bad, but we must know them and understand all their variables and all their details so that the end customer is satisfied with what chosen and do not have low or high expectations regarding its functionality, design and possible decoration.

The base of the roller blinds consists of an aluminum tube in which the fabric is glued or anchored at the beginning to roll up a fabric. Along with this we have the command (manual gear or motorized insert) mainly manual with a chain system (plastic balls joined by a polyester cord), some manufacturers also use metal chains.

And on the other hand we have the lower profile or bottom rail which is a piece of aluminum that gives the necessary weight to the fabric so that it is as stretched as possible without reducing the drive. (It is a moderately light aluminum).

With this and its respective supports (brackets) a roller blind is built primitively.

Fabrics

The main element of this type of curtains is the fabric, logically it is a curtain and the fabric is the star of the stage. But any fabric?… NO! These fabrics must have a special consistency and rigidity that are completely different from the fabrics used in decoration areas, be it traditional curtains and / or conventional upholstery.

This given that a fabric of irregular weave (stubborn) and with a nice “fall” will cause a difficulty to roll correctly, wrinkling in the same tube immediately spoiling the original idea.

On the contrary, the fabrics for this type of roller blinds are normally of moderately smooth fabrics or with a very even stubborn that eliminates this risk along with maintaining an ideal consistency and / or rigidity for the purpose of rolling.
