With this simple automation kit, any blinds can be converted into smart blinds

From the kitchen to the bedroom, intelligent interconnection technology has been integrated into every part of our house. Moreover, if there are signs of CES 2018, then the smart technology trend will never slow down. You can use your iPhone to set mood lighting, check your child and launch your favorite Spotify playlist. And, when you need a little privacy, you can also close the blinds directly from your phone.
Automatic blinds are nothing new, you can see by quickly scrolling through the “aisle” curtains on Amazon. However, most of the available electric blinds are used to replace your existing blinds (or installed during the construction of the house), with your own remote control, you will inevitably lose them and/or are expensive.
MySmartBlinds’ home automation suite solves all these problems. This is an out-of-the-box installation kit that can turn your existing pull-wire blinds into electric blinds that can be controlled by mobile phones. Best of all, it is less than $100.
The automation kit can be used for 2-3 inch blinds, which may be the type of blinds you use in your home. It does not apply to the less common wireless blinds or roller blinds. That’s because the motor replaces the mechanism that tilts the blinds. You still need to raise and lower the blinds manually.
According to the MySmartBlinds website, the kit takes less than 5 minutes to install and does not require any tools. If you need help, you can watch numerous commentator videos and troubleshooting videos on its YouTube channel.
After installing the motor, you can download the MySmartBlinds application to control the blinds and set a schedule for automatic opening and closing. The new update of the firmware allows you to set the blinds to respond to the sunlight level, and the energy saving feature allows you to set the schedule according to the temperature of the house.
Since the motor is battery powered, you eventually need to charge it. MySmartBlinds claims that the battery can last for three years, depending on how often you use it. The automation kit comes with a USB charging cable, or you can pick up the MySmartBlinds solar panel to make sure you don’t have to worry about charging.
The MySmartBlinds kit was originally funded on Kickstarter in 2014 and is currently available for purchase on Amazon. In December 2017, they returned to Kickstarter to raise funds for the MySmartBlinds Hub, which allows you to connect blinds to smart home devices such as Amazon Echo or Google Home. You can now book on their website.
MySmartBlinds is not the perfect solution-the fact that you still need to raise and lower the blinds manually is very annoying. However, the price of less than 100 dollars is still very cost-effective.
You can buy the MySmartBlinds home automation kit on Amazon for $99 and a solar panel for $45. Book MySmartBlinds Hub here.
